It is lovely to follow up and we said we'd wait for this race as he handles that ground,. I wasn't enamoured with the two hurdles being taken out up the home straight, as jumping is his forte. He got it done though and while he got a lovely run around in front, company is good for him. I don't know how much more is in the locker but he is improving away. There is a rated beginners' chase back here in a month and we have half-an-eye on that. I thought he’d step up for softer ground, and I felt today with 9st7lb on his back the ideal thing was to let him gallop and jump. He has loads of experience and is a lovely little horse. He jumped well and did everything very professionally. We can mix it as he has his chase rating and we’ll find novice handicaps. It was (drop of rain was very welcome) because to be honest coming up the road there, we weren't sure that we were going to be running. I was happy enough it was safe for her. It is great to start off the season with a win. We had a frustrating time with her last season, she was a bit in and out. She can be a little bit tricky and she has come out the wrong side in photo finishes before, so she is not winning out of turn. His mark over hurdles was tempting and he’s after coming to himself. We were disappointed for a while over hurdles, but fences seem to have changed him and he’s after getting to like the job. I thought Brendan (Keogh, owner) was coming over and I said I’d run the two of them, but the other horse (I’m Slippy) was disappointing. I was a bit concerned about the ground for this horse, but Phillip said he handled it very well. I suppose he was entitled to win off his mark once that improvement was there compared to his hurdle runs before. He has been disappointing up until now as we thought the world of him from the get-go. I bought him from Will Delaney as he is a half-brother to both Kilcarry Bridge and Kilashee (stablemates) and is out of a half-sister to Hear The Echo. He is a proper little horse and there's no reason he won't go forward now. Shane gave him a peach of a ride and really switched him off in front. He was running a huge race when falling at Fairyhouse - I'm not a huge fan of those new hurdles and I think he would have finished third then.
