Punchestown Wed, 4th Feb, 2026  Pebble Bleu I thought it might come too soon after running such a good race in Thurles last Thursday, but she came out of it bouncing and she just seems to be improving with age. She likes to get on with it. She has a high cruising speed, and she loves what she’s doing. Mike gets on great with her. He’s riding out of his skin at the moment and he’s great. I’m delighted for John and Sharon (Flavin), who have been big supporters of my yard. They have trusted me with this mare and thankfully I’m paying them back now. John wants to cover her as she’s a valuable broodmare now; she’s got a great pedigree. We’ll tip away and we might find another race for her over fences maybe.

Fairyhouse Tue, 4th Nov, 2025  Sticwiththeprocess Sticwiththeprocess was entitled to win when Gordon’s horse (fourth-placed Whinney Hill) didn’t operate. He’s rated 114 and had handicap experience, so he’s entitled to win that kind of race. The horse that beat him (Grann’s Boy) here in April is now rated 130 and they were well clear of the third that day. He got 9lb for that but that’s his mark and that’s what he is. He was getting 8lb off the winners today, so you’d have to have a 122 horse to beat him. He should jump a fence, he’s a big old fella. You always think they’re going to jump fences but it’s a different ball game and they have to be a bit more of a man about it. He’s a big lairy so-and-so and just does enough.

Limerick Sat, 18th Oct, 2025  Samba Train Aine was always confident, rode her positively on the inside and that's why she rides for me. She executed it great and the mare kept galloping. . We'll sit back on our laurels now for a while but I can't wait to see her over hurdles. We'll find a mares' maiden hurdle next but she doesn't want the ground too deep being by Blue Bresil. The owner (Sir Francis Brooke) has other duties in Ascot today but will be delighted with this.

Listowel Thu, 25th Sep, 2025  Heads Up It is a big relief as I felt sicker (with nerves) today than before Cheltenham. He had been jumping very well at home and while we hadn’t overdone it schooling-wise or work-wise, there is improvement left. He is in a good while but we had taken our time, so he wasn’t fully wound up. He had done enough to come here, but because of the way the ground had been we haven’t been able to school him on grass. He also hasn’t schooled at today’s speed, so there are reasons to be happy and we can go forward now.

We always knew he was a really nice horse so we weren't that shocked to see him run so well at Cheltenham. Before sending him home for the summer, we did two weeks schooling with him and he was very quick to jump. The owners (Darragh McDonagh, uncle of winning jockey) aren't too far from here so this was always the plan and there's a good crowd of them here. We'll go back to Cheltenham in November now which is a great meeting to go to and while he could be a 2m4f type horse, I don't mind if he is a two-miler either.
