Rokathir (14/1) registered a wide-margin win in Navan’s William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap Chase today, as the Henry De Bromhead-trained gelding scored on his handicap debut for jockey Darragh O’Keeffe.

Successful in a Punchestown handicap hurdle last February, the seven-year-old had fallen in his sole previous start over fences but today jumped soundly and travelled well to score by 22 lengths from Promontory .

De Bromhead said “I’m delighted and Roger (Brookhouse, owner) is here with his son Rob. They just got over this morning, so it is great.

"I was hoping he'd run well, but we've obviously had a quiet run there recently, so it is nice to get a winner. He really appreciated that ground and the trip. Obviously, he is going to go up a grade I'd imagine. There's the novice handicap back here in March, so that might be one option."

In testing ground conditions today, the opening race provided the widest-margin winner with Coyote Spirit scoring by 25 lengths.
