Well-supported Westandtogether (morning 25s, returned 9/1) made a winning handicap debut, landing Navan’s Gibney's Of Malahide Handicap Hurdle for trainer Denise Foster, jockey Danny Gilligan and owner Jules Sigler.

Unplaced in four previous outings, the six-year-old mare today debuted in handicaps with a lowly 87 rating and, under regular rider Gilligan, travelled strongly before battling well on the run-in to hold Teds Corner by 1.5 lengths.

Foster said "I'm so happy with her because we've always thought it was in her, but she just needs that really testing ground.”

The trainer expanded “Danny (Gilligan) has helped me a lot with her and, after her first run, said 'Sneezy, you are going to have some fun with this one'.

“It has taken her a little while to get going, though, and definitely a step up to three miles would be no harm. She's a typical Westerner, she's not the easiest in this world but is very tough."
