King moves to the head of William Hill Each Way Extra Challenge Series Daniel King has moved to the head of the riders table in the William Hill Each Way Extra Challenge Series following the victory of Way Down South at Cork on Saturday. King (58 points) has taken over from long-time leader Tiernan Power Roche (49pts) having also landed the previous leg of the series aboard Chichester Park at Thurles just before Christmas. The leading rider of the series will receive €10,000. Philip Rothwell continues in pole position for the €50,000 bonus in the trainers’ table with the Tinahely handler currently on 84 points, while Paul Nolan is a distant second on 45. Points in the series are awarded from first to seventh place finishing positions with 10 points for a win, 7 points for second and 5 points for third. Trainers with 50 or more winners in the previous NH season or Flat season can saddle runners in the series but will not be eligible for the bonus. However, all yards are eligible for a €10,000 bonus to stable staff and Rothwell holds a 14-point lead (84-70) over Gavin Cromwell in this section. The next leg of the 50-race series takes place at Fairyhouse on January 15 and continues until the meeting at Kilbeggan on April 24.
