Lark flies in to give visitors back-to-back wins
It didn't go to plan really at all. She didn't travel. She jumped okay but I was flat to the tin all the way. She just started to come alive when we turned to face two out I guess, maybe half-a-mile out. She picked up really well from there. She was quick away from the last. I thought it was a good performance. The ground is just on the easy side of good. It's lovely. There is not many that win six never mind six in a row!. We didn’t plan on being that far back but she’s a good horse. He said he was going to ride her to come home and come home she has. Will (Watt) gave John (Lalor) half of her as a wedding present so it was quite the gift!. A couple of times last year I was on the verge of retiring her. I couldn’t get her right and she didn’t run to her mark, but her owners were very patient and thank God they were as she’s some mare.

Irancy upsets better fancied stablemates to win Grade 1 for Mullins
We took all the gear off Salvator Mundi today and it worked as far as his jumping was concerned but he just got running too fast and they couldn’t keep that up. Paul knowing how good Salvator Mundi is couldn’t let him go. Irancy has always been a good horse and met with a setback after winning here earlier in the season, but it might have been the best thing to have happened as he came here fresh. I gave Kopek Des Bordes a nice break after Cheltenham and probably gave him too much and should have brought him to somewhere like Ayr or Perth. Looking at him in the parade ring I thought he was carrying too much condition and that showed in today’s pace.

Kiely proves Champ as Mullins lands back-to-back Grade 1's
Unbelievable. Again, Willie's mastery. This fella, he never really attacked when the loose horse upset him in Fairyhouse last week. But in fairness to Willie, he wasn't afraid to come back here. Knew the variable was stepping up five furlongs in trip and there was every chance he'd go and do that. I knew Paul was the horse to beat. The Gigginstown one was going to play a part but we got the better of him off the bend and yeah he is a good horse to put it to bed nicely. For me, I'm just so lucky to be part of the team in Willie's. I'm just blessed to be on the team and get to ride some of the good ones on these days.

Wonderful Everyday brings up Mullins treble in Goffs Bumper
This filly had been doing everything right at home but I didn’t know how good she was and Maith An Buachaill also ran well. They were both at the back passing the winning post so they ran crackers. It’s great when someone in the yard rides a winner at one of the big meetings and Ruth has ridden one or two winners for us before so it’s great for her. A couple of the others were disappointing, but they will make into nice bumper horses for next year. We were hoping that Leader Des Bordes might follow in the footsteps of his brother.

Marine Nationale backs up Queen Mother win in Champion Chase
We missed a lot of our novice season last year so it was a slow build, and I felt the horse had improved every run and had improved again from Cheltenham and we were proved right. He won doing a half-speed and I think this horse has all the attributes to be a multiple Champion Chase winner going forward. Our target is to win three and equal Badsworth Boy who is the only horse in history to win three Champion Chases despite all of the storied horses over the years. He’s only eight and that’s his 12th run — he has no mileage on the clock, and he grows an extra leg in Cheltenham. He’s so laidback, goes through the gears and just does enough. He doesn’t burn any extra petrol than what he needs. He’s the most wonderful creature and everybody in the yard has had a huge part to play in this. Garrett (Cotter) rides him every day, Mandy looks after him — it’s just a great success for Kildare as there are not too many National Hunt horses trained in Kildare anymore. We only have 13 or 14 horses riding out and we are able to punch at the highest level if we get the ammunition. This is the horse of a lifetime and we are going to mind him and you’ll see him back in Cheltenham next year and he won’t be 10/1 like he was this morning!

Bud Fox makes winning Rules debut to land finale
His work has always been good at home. He has plenty of gears. Derek obviously trained him to win his point-to-point and strongly recommended him. I know they often do but he was mad about this fella and he’s a lovely horse going forward. I’ll have a conversation with the owners, but I’d imagine that will be it for the moment and then go jumping next season. We have all summer to think about it.
