The Ilbartan Community Group is a registered CBO.
Our home area is Ntashat in Ngong, a semi-arid location in the vast Kajiado District of Kenya’s Rift Valley.

We seek to advance our community through improvement and diversification of our traditional livestock --- cattle, sheep and goats.

Funds are solicited for water developments (boreholes, water pans, water tankers), dairy equipment and tractors and grass-baling machinery, 4 x 4 pick-ups and trucks, development of solar lighting, livestock marketing and hides and skin projects, and improvement of education facilities in our area.

We are establishing a Masai Museum to save the remaining artifacts of our people still in existence, and as a resource and information centre on the Masai people in general and our own Keekonyokie clan in particular.

Ilbartan Community

ENVIRONMENT.
World climate warming is affecting Africa first and more severely than elsewhere. After three unprecedented years of drought, dams empty of water, no grazing and grievous loss of our livestock, the Ilbartan Community recognises the threat this poses to our way of life.

Our lands are degraded by these climatic changes and the Ilbartan Community acknowledges that our traditional pastoralist Maasai lifestyle and dependence on milk from our cattle as our primary diet is no longer sustainable.

Ilbartan members resolve therefore to identify innovative programmes and to adopt strategies which will add value to and diversify income generation and build new economic and social structures especially in so far as they counter the ecological devastation now confronting our community.
