Jockey Declan McDonogh continued his good start to the new year with a narrow success on the Joseph O’Brien-trained Dancing Saxon (4s to 13/2) today, as the well-bred filly landed Dundalk’s Bar 1 Betting Bet 10 Get 50 Free Bets Race.

A half-sister to Group 1-placed Dancing Gemini, Dancing Saxon was today having her sixth career start and, having challenged leader Flanker Jet inside the final furlong, scored an all-out nose success at the line.

Following his sixth success of 2026, McDonogh said: "I thought I hit the line well but wasn't sure if we had won. The advantage in photo-finishes is generally to the stands' side horse, so that made me question myself.

“Her early form was good and in a Fairyhouse maiden she finished third, with Precise (subsequent dual Group 1-winner) just in front of her.

"She's not over big, Joseph put the cheekpieces on her and it definitely put her head in the right spot for me as she felt genuine today. The second horse kept me honest, he found plenty and my filly galloped out well.”
