Trainer Danny Murphy made a winning return from a recent holiday when landing Dundalk’s opening Winter Series Leading Trainer & Jockey Championship Handicap today, scoring with Prairie Girl (7/4f) under Seamie Heffernan.

The daughter of Mehmas was held up behind the leaders and while briefly short of room two furlongs out, finished well to score by 1.5 lengths from Clonmacash

Murphy said "I had one winner and four seconds when I was away on holiday, so I was getting a few phone calls saying 'when are you back?! However, they were so unlucky as they were all beaten by heads and short-heads, so it wasn't anyone's fault.

"This is a game filly, she is going the right way, is tough and she will keep going. I'll be honest, I have to give full credit to Seamie Heffernan because I said she just likes a little lead and he didn't panic. His experience won it.

"There's a 0-90 next month, so we will go there and we will have a chat about going to either Lingfield or Newcastle on Good Friday. I'd love to go to the turf in the middle of the summer - you wouldn't know with this one.”
