Behind-the-scenes with Kopek Des Bordes: 'We’re on a merry-go-round of happiness' Niall Tierney went behind-the-scenes with Kopek Des Bordes on his chasing debut at Navan on Monday and captured all the emotions around the star’s reappearance. Owner Charlie McCarthy described the joy of owning such a talented individual. On his feelings about owning the horse: "Words can't describe it. Happiness, joy, everything that he's brought us. We've had a fantastic time, a merry go-round of happiness and long may it last. "Money can't buy it. We're on Cloud9. We're in heaven. This horse has done so much for us and so much for the people that followed him." On his nervousness before the race: "I was a little bit nervous today, but he's schooling very well at home. And if he jumps very well and comes home safe, I'd be as happy as Larry." "Listen, nervous as I was, Paul said that every time he saw a fence, he had to get at it. And he was improving all the time and respected them." On the race experience: “I suppose having your buddies there with you after the race, you can’t put a price on a feeling like that. Money can't buy it. “We're on Cloud9. We're in heaven. This horse has done so much for us and so much for the for the people that followed him.” Willie Mulllins on Kopek Des Bordes “He was very good. He's very clean but he learned an awful lot today. “You could see the way he was putting in quick ones, going down to his early fences rather than just standing back and letting fly. “That was our worry coming up here today because he likes jumping. He loves getting on with the job. “Paul taught him a lot. Obviously Paul came back in and was delighted with it. “The two mile chase at Leopardstown would look the obvious choice for him at this point in time."
