Conditions are set to be very testing at Fairyhouse on Tuesday and there’s an inspection planned for the morning as the rain continues to come.

There’s a competitive seven-race card on offer and the final event is a fascinating bumper.

Run over a flat two miles, it’s open to four to seven-year-olds who have placed first, second or third in an Irish point-to-point and was won by subsequent Grade 2 winner Jeroboam Machin last year.

Eight runners have been declared for the race this year so we’ve assessed the chances of all the runners and picked out our two strongest fancies.

NAP: Unflinching

Next Best: Jet To Monte Carlo

Elliott and a Mullins lock horns again

Gordon Elliott is often a trainer to watch at this time of year and he runs £150,000 purchase Unflinching here. A Mullins runner appears to be his biggest competition, but this time it’s Emmet MullinsJet To Monte Carlo and the same trainer won this very race last year.

All Night Revival represents Nigel Slevin and he only made his debut in a point-to-point at Castletown-Geoghegan last month, where he ran a nice race to finish second behind an impressive winner. There should be more to come but he might be up against it here.

Eugene O’Sullivan’s All Rise Malone won an Irish point at the third time of asking at Loughrea, but he has already run under rules and was very underwhelming in a Killarney maiden hurdle this summer. Jessbers Wish finished third at Liscarroll but the market will be a good indicator for him.

Escapefromreality beat All Night Revival three starts ago but a couple of defeats since suggest he’s probably best watched. Weespoof has loads of experience and Gerald Quinn’s gelding can use that to his advantage, although he does look vulnerable from a win perspective.

Terrence O’Brien runs the five-year-old Tadhg’s Rock but it’s hard to be confident of a big run on the evidence of his three point-to-point starts so far.

Unflinching could be a smart one

Elliott and Gigginstown House Stud are always a fearsome combination and they went to six-figures to get UNFLINCHING. The son of Montmartre has a fairly average pedigree and his half-brother is a 92-rated chaser who has won over three miles.

He looked anything but average when winning a maiden point-to-point at Dromahane, however, and he asserted his dominance after the last to score by two-and-a-half lengths. Elliott has already had 11 bumper winners this season and it would be no surprise if this horse was to add to that tally.

His trainer recently put him forward as a dark horse to follow and he’s expected to make his presence felt in bumpers this season.

Jet To Monte Carlo won’t be far away

Emmet Mullins won this race last year with Jeroboam Machin and that very promising gelding won a Grade 2 bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival and hasn’t been seen since due to injury. The same connections send JET TO MONTE CARLO this year and he looks full of promise too.

He made his debut in a point-to-point at Ballynoe in March and could hardly have been more impressive. The son of Jet Away was 15 lengths clear before the second-last and the race was a foregone conclusion from that point on, despite a slight error at the last fence.

Clearly this horse has a decent engine and showed enough pace at Ballynoe to suggest winning a bumper won’t be beyond him.
