Danny Mullins: 'I thought a Munster National would suit him perfectly' The Munster National takes place this Sunday in Limerick at 4.15 with 16 declared for the Grade 3 Handicap Chase over three miles. Niall Tierney caught up with jockey Danny Mullins, who rides the favourite for Willie Mullins and reveals his best chance at Far Hills on Saturday. Danny Mullins Hoping to Add More National Success This Sunday The Kerry National-winning rider has a busy weekend as he prepares to ride in Far Hills on Saturday night before taking the ride on favourite You Oughta Know in this Sunday’s Munster National. Mullins: I’m very hopeful about You Oughta Know heading into the Munster National. I think there’s still more to come from him. He unseated in the Kerry National; it was just one of those things that can happen, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a good horse with the right profile to improve again. He’s a Willie Mullins novice chaser going into a big handicap, and that’s always something to take seriously. When you’re riding one of Willie’s novices in a race like this, you know they’ll be well-prepared and ready to run their race. I’m hopeful he can take a step forward and show what he’s capable of on Sunday. There are a few obvious dangers in the race. Arctic Fly, with Paul Townend on board, looks a major one. If you look back at her Galway run, the form from that race has worked out well. The ground and trip this weekend might suit her better. Then there’s the Gavin Cromwell-trained horse (Aspurofthemoment), who comes in off a low, handy weight and those are the types that can always be competitive, especially in a race like this. I did ride Weveallbeencaught in Listowel, and straight after that race, I thought a Munster National would suit him perfectly, so he will be a huge danger and definitely has a profile suited to the race I’m in America on Saturday night, where I’ve got three or four rides lined up. The most notable is Fleetfoot, an ex-Jim Bolger-trained horse, running in a $200,000 race. He finished fourth on Champions Weekend at Leopardstown, so he’s a classy type. I’d say he’s my best chance of a winner out there.
