Beechmount Rathkeale Limerick
Located at Beechmount House in Rathkeale, Co.?Limerick, situated on 114 acres of rich limestone land, his yard is well-equipped with a six-furlong all-weather Wexford Sand gallop, schooling hurdles and fences, walkers, and comprehensive modern facilities.
His proximity to local tracks like Limerick and Listowel gives him valuable access to key racing venues.
Originally involved in show jumping, McNamara transitioned into training over forty years ago. His family is deeply woven into the business:
McNamara supplied the superstar Ruby Walsh with his very first Grade 1 winner in France when Strangely Brown won the Prix Alain Du Breil in Auteuil in the summer of 2005. Not only that, but he also supplied Katie Walsh with her first winner on British soil when Hordago won at Cheltenham in November, 2007.
It may come as no surprise that McNamara's local track Limerick Racecourse, which is only a few miles away, is his most successful track, netting 92 career winners at the venue to this point and operating at around a 10 per-cent strike-rate.
Next in line is Listowel as he always likes to target the Harvest Festival at the Co Kerry track, proven with his treble on the Friday of the meeting there in 2024. It's always worth following him there and he has landed a few punts.
The same can be said for Killarney, a track he really enjoys, but third in line is Cork, which again is quite local to him as it's located in Mallow just down the road. The best place to follow McNamara is around the Munster tracks which he targets.
