See also » Kalypso'chance back on track with Monksfield triumph We were disappointed in him the last day, but I'd say just two miles was too short and a lot of ours just needed the run at that stage. I was probably trying to be clever splitting them all up in Down Royal. I was nervous of running him back so quick but, in fairness, it was the right decision. He was tough. In fairness to him, he was a different horse there today. You could see the way he was travelling with his head down, he was happy. In Down Royal, his head was in the air and he never jumped. He had good bumper form last year and probably tapered off a bit at the end of the year, but that was back to more like it today. I'd say that's it (his trip) and he could go further as well. Maybe straight to Naas because he's after having two quick runs. Like most of those Gigginstown horses, he was bought to be a big chaser. I'd say whatever he does over hurdles, it is going to be chasing down the road. Gordon Elliott, trainer
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Walks In June, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the second last involving Frankie John, ridden by D.G
Hogan, placed third, Kalypso'chance (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed first, and Walks In June, ridden by D.J
O'Keeffe, placed sixth, where it appeared there was contact between the three. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. G. Hogan stated that he maintained his line. J. W. Kennedy stated that his mount jumped left and when he went back to his racing line his mount overexaggerated and hit the horse on his outside. He added that his mount is very raw and awkward. D. J. O'Keeffe stated that he received a bump but it did not affect his placing
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Steward took no further action other than to advise J. W. Kennedy to react quicker if in a similar situation in future
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr P.J. O'Neill, rider of Phoenix Arizona, trained by John F. O'Neill, concerning his riding in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount had no more to give after the last and that is why he trotted home. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr P. J. O'Neill was in breach of Rule 216 (ii)(b), in that he failed to pull his mount up when it had no more to give or had tailed off through fatigue, and having considered his record in the regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr P. J. O'Neill for five racedays. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Phoenix Arizona, trained by John F. O'Neill, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
