See also » Rothwell extends lead in the William Hill Each Way Extra Challenge Series I’m thrilled, and the horse deserved that more than anything. He’d run some fabulous races in defeat and the experience Tiernan got from riding him here the last day stood us in good stead for today. He just got there too soon the last day and it’s a very long straight. He gave him a super ride today. Even though we are doing well in the William Hill Series, that is our first winner in it so it’s nice to get that. The prize money in the series is great for the yard, the stable staff, the jockey and most of all for the trainer! The poor old trainer never gets a bob!. It’s a great incentive for everybody and fantastic that William Hill have got behind it. There are so many new initiatives being brought forward and the trainers' association had a part to play in the William Hill Series. I really think we need to distribute prize money a bit better and some of the money from the higher-tier races could be filtered down to the lower-tier races to encourage people that a horse can pay his way through the year. P J Rothwell, trainer
The Raceday Stewards received a report from Ms. P. Hassett, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that R.A. Doyle, rider of Lough Nigara, weighed in at 1.5lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he could not identify where the discrepancy came from other than that he had dropped out in the race and had kickback on him as a result. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his clean record, they cautioned him on this occasion
S.D. Torrens, rider of Cullig, trained by Patrick T. Foley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stumbled on the bend past the stands and pulled up
C. Stone-Walsh, rider of Gather Yourself, trained by Cian Collins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left.
